The Founders Award

1 per academic year

The flagship scholarship, awarded to the candidate who best embodies ISET's founding principles: intellectual curiosity, industry commitment, and the potential to advance the event tourism discipline.

Selection Criteria
  • Exceptional academic record or equivalent professional achievement
  • Clear articulation of how event tourism education will advance their contribution to the industry
  • Evidence of leadership potential and commitment to the field
  • Demonstrated alignment with ISET values (intelligence over opinion, production over consumption)

The Diversity Scholarship

Value

Full or partial curriculum licence fee

Availability

2-4 per academic year

Supports candidates who bring underrepresented perspectives to the event tourism profession. The industry benefits when its leaders reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.

Selection Criteria
  • From a background underrepresented in event tourism leadership
  • Meet academic entry requirements for the programme
  • Can demonstrate how their perspective will enrich the learning community
  • Financial need (partial or full, assessed individually)

The Merit Scholarship

Value

Partial curriculum licence fee (50%)

Availability

4-6 per academic year

Recognises outstanding academic or professional achievement. Awarded purely on the strength of the application, regardless of financial circumstance.

Selection Criteria
  • First-class honours degree (or international equivalent) OR 5+ years senior industry experience
  • Strong personal statement demonstrating intellectual ambition
  • Excellent references from academic or professional sources
  • No financial need requirement (merit-only assessment)

The Regional Access Award

Value

Full curriculum licence fee

Availability

3-5 per academic year

Targeted support for talented candidates from regions where postgraduate education costs represent a disproportionate economic burden relative to local incomes.

Selection Criteria
  • Resident of a country classified as Low Income or Lower-Middle Income (World Bank)
  • Meet academic entry requirements
  • Unable to fund the programme without significant support
  • Commitment to contributing to event tourism development in their home region

The Industry Partnership Award

Availability

Variable (depends on sponsor commitments)

Funded by ISET industry partners who believe in investing in the next generation. Each award carries the sponsor's name and may include mentorship or placement opportunities.

Selection Criteria
  • Nominated by or endorsed by an industry partner organisation
  • Demonstrated interest in the sponsor's sector of event tourism
  • Meet academic entry requirements
  • Willingness to engage with sponsor mentorship programme (if offered)

The Research Fellowship

Full curriculum licence fee plus research stipend

Availability

1-2 per academic year

For candidates whose primary motivation is advancing the discipline through original research. Fellows are expected to produce publishable work that contributes to event tourism scholarship.

Selection Criteria
  • Strong research proposal aligned with ISET research priorities
  • Evidence of research capability (prior dissertation, publications, or equivalent)
  • Commitment to producing at least one publishable output during the programme
  • Willingness to present research at ISET events and contribute to the research community
